	Togliatti State University was established on May 29, 2001 as a result of a merger of two higher education institutions: Togliatti Polytechnic Institute (founded in 1951) and Togliatti Branch of Samara State Pedagogical University (founded in 1988). The history of Togliatti State University is inseparably linked to the recent history of our city, as it was the first higher educational establishment founded in Togliatti. Togliatti State University is one of the key components of the city's development plan; it provides comprehensive higher education and vocational training supplying the city companies, enterprises and public organizations with highly qualified personnel. Annually more than 1500 qualified specialists graduate from the University. The total number of graduates amounts to 47 thousand for its 55-year activity. Its alumni work as top governmental officials, members of the city administration, top managers of domestic and overseas companies, bankers, entrepreneurs, composers, and actors.
