Wow....just wow. Absolutely amazing. Honestly, in the same way emotional and fantastic because very first time Someone said it. I would not be aware of the place to start this review!
200 years earlier, the united states was destroyed plus in its midst rose the Capitol having its surrounding 13 districts. Each district possesses his own way of life and then for a moment lived peacefully. However, after a time, the districts rose against the Capitol and also a rebellion ensued. To exhibit the districts how superior Capitol is, each year two children, one boy and another girl from each district, are chosen to battle towards the death in The Hunger Games. 24 enter, 1 arrives. Allow Seventy-Fourth Hunger Games begin.
Y'all need to understand that i'm not and emotional person with regards to books. No, I promise I am not heartless, I recently don't cry easily. Yes, during books my pulse accelerates and I'll feel bad for the characters, on the other hand don't actually cry. It is on the list of only books where I've come this near tears. And thats saying something.
Before I buy into all of the emotional thing book, I want to first mention the characters.
Katniss is fantastic. She's incredibly strong and fierce. Now, that's the best kind of heroine i realize that sometimes these kinds will blend together but something I adore about her is always that although she could be these items like a great number of other heroines out there, she's not exactly lovable and witty similar to others. She's standoffish along with a loner and it takes a number of years for anyone to have by means of her. She's mature beyond her years because this lady has being. She took over as the sole supporter of her family at this sort of young age and it hardened her. She's a survivor. But sometimes this difficult exterior became her downfall because she couldn't always see what's at the front of her: the belief that people cherish her. However, although its difficult to get past her hardened exterior, when you do, jane is a tremendously kind and admirable person. This is especially shown through her actions for the reaping. She cared so much on her family she was ready to risk her life, realizing that her chances for returning were slim, only to keep her sister safe. If it is not ought to have respect, however have no idea what is.
Peeta is another great character. He's just about the full complete opposite of Katniss. He's personable, caring, and charming. He truly loves Katniss regardless of whether she can't find it herself. Even though you avoid getting to know to much about him as this is from Katniss' perspective, you are able to still note that she has admirable qualities too. Normally I prefer the alpha male and the bad-boy (I reckon that its kinda my weakness) however i do also fall for the sweet, respectful guys and I fell head-over-heels for his heart.
For secondary characters? Amazing. Each was unique in their own way. Effie, sweetly oblivious Effie. Haymitch, who may drink somewhat to much, but includes a heart under that surly exterior. Cinna, who truly really cares about Katniss although he hardly knows her. The other tributes each had their particular personalities that built them into unique (Don't even get me started on Rue!).
This book was just so incredibly emotional. 24 kids enter into an arena and just 1 is released. I honestly can't even imagine finding yourself in their situation. I am aware i always would do whatever it loved survive, wait, how would that change me? Each tribute was only wanting to survive. They did not wish to be there (well, except a few), but were forced to be. Whenever your facing your immediate death, how would you act? Survival changes people. These different reactions on their situations were shown remarkably well through all of the different tributes. Collins' does a wonderful jobs of showing how people would fare in cases like this. While every one of the bloodshed in the arena is disturbing, perhaps the most disturbing thing to me was the belief that the people from the Capitol enjoyed it. Children were dying and also to them it was just entertainment. These were completely oblivious!! That it was all a game to them. Providing that these were entertained, they were happy. It was sick. Completely and utterly sick.
And to tell the truth, I felt awful for that other tributes, at the same time they attemptedto kill Katniss and Peeta. How can you not? These were thrown into a situation some of them weren't ready for and trying to get home. Even though they were her enemies, I felt pity and guilt right together with Katniss. She, too, knows that they were only doing what they were forced to just do like she was.
The Hunger Games can be a dark book about death and destruction, but within its dark exterior is a beautiful story full of survival, hope and fighting for you're keen on.
